I am blessed and fortunate to be able to serve the Holston View community as principal. I count it a privilege to partner with you in your child’s education and I am dedicated to continue the tradition of excellence at Holston View. My goal is to partner with the teachers and parents as I continue to foster relationships with each student in an environment where we work hard and play hard. Together, we will positively impact each child’s future.
I would like to extend an invitation for you to visit Holston View and be a part of our school community. Together, we will make a positive impact on each child’s future. If I can assist you in any way, please contact me via email or phone.
Childhood As a life-long resident of Bristol, I attended Haynesfield Elementary, Vance Middle School, and am a graduate of Tennessee High School.
My Family I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to have first-hand knowledge and experiences in the educational setting because both of my parents Jerry and Janice Russell are retired teachers from Bristol City Schools. My sister Tracy Easterling is the PK-6 Math Specialist for our school system. I am married to Eugene Coleman, a civil engineer, at AMT (A. Morton Thompson & Associates, Inc.) in Abingdon Virginia & Kingsport Tennessee. We have one child, Dayton who attends Tennessee High School and enjoys playing baseball.
Hobbies My family is very important to me. I love spending time with them, attending sporting events of my son, nieces, nephews, and students, boating, playing tennis with friends and family, working outside in the yard and directing special events for the youth group where my father is the pastor. My favorite food is Rocky Road ice cream and my favorite color is red.
Teaching Experiences I have a wide range of professional experiences from elementary through college level teaching. I have been a dedicated assistant for struggling students, served as a Physical Education / Computer Lab teacher, softball and basketball coach at Robinson Middle School in Kingsport. I taught high school health classes and coached softball and soccer at Sullivan Central High School. I was full-time lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology, Leisure and Sports Sciences at East Tennessee State University. I served as the physical education teacher at Holston View for 8 years. I served as the Program Assistant at Haynesfield Elementary for the past 6 years before returning to Holston View as principal in February 2015.
Education I received my undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in 1994. I continued at ETSU as a Fit Kids Graduate Assistant and received my Master of Arts in Physical Education, Teaching Administration in 1996. I added my classroom certification in grades 1-8 in 1997 from Milligan College. In 2009, I completed my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
