Holston View's first ever AMAZING SHAKE CHAMPION!

Congratulations Alex Akard (3rd-5th grade Champion) & Ethan Dunkerly (K-2nd grade Champion) for being our first ever Amazing Shake winners!

Grade level finalist:

Kindergarten: Tyler Hommel
1st: Cannon Stalnaker & Lleyton Fielder
2nd: Ethan Dunkerly
3rd: Riley Leonard
4th: Avery Stlanaker
5th: Alex Akard

Our K-5th graders competed in the first Holston View Amazing Shake contest the last week of school. This competition allowed students to practice social skills and public speaking skills. Skills practiced included: making eye contact, introducing themselves, speaking clearly with meaning and enthusiasm, and having a firm handshake. Two students were selected from each homeroom for round #2 to give a 30 second speech about our school (elevator speech).  Round 3 consisted of a finalist per grade level; these students gave a speech about themselves.  A few students elected to share these speeches at the end of our awards day program.  Click HERE to view the Awards Day Program - select videos.

We are proud of all our K-5 students who competed in the Amazing Shake.  Sixth graders were participating in rising up at Vance during the competition; therefore were not able to compete.

The Amazing Shake is a Ron Clark Academy intiative. Holston View students are competing and praticing only a few components of the competition this year in our own version.  The first national competition for the AMAZING SHAKE will be held next school year.  Click the links below to find out more about the AMAZING SHAKE!
