Hour of Code 2017- December 4-8

Update! On its 4 year anniversary, the Hour of Code passed 500 million served – an incredible accomplishment for all the educators, nonprofits, corporations, and governments that support this global campaign. Our students were a part of that accomplishment!

Students at Holston View have been participating in the Hour of Code ... and loving it! ... since it began four years ago. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Every year, there have been more and more activities added that encourage and motivate students to give coding a try. This year the most popular activities seem to be the "Create Your Own Google Logo," and "Minecraft." At Holston View, 3rd-6th grade students in computer lab class spend every other week doing www.code.org activities. There are step-by-step lessons that teach students the basics of coding. These activities encourage creativity in students, and help build problem-solving skills.
